Australian Hardwood

Hardwoods are a great option for Australian decks – they're extremely durable, and highly resilient and can look, feel, and even smell great. Popular hardwoods include Jarrah, Spotted Gum, and Merbau, whichares the most common timber decking in Australia.

Why is there a wood shortage in Australia?

  • All orders with less than full pack quantities in this section will incur a $88 (+GST) job lot fee.
  • Legislation, Natural disasters, and increased demand have led to a shortage in Australian timber, in particular Australian species of timber such as Blackbutt and Spotted Gum. With an investment from the Australian Government, improvement is on the horizon but the gap between demand and supply is widening. We will try and source you the best timber at the best rates but all are subject to stock and availability hence this section is e-mail orders only. **

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Blackbutt, Spotted Gum, and Mixed Hardwood?

Each Australian species has its own colour and grain character — Spotted Gum tends toward warm browns with mottled figuring, Blackbutt is a pale straw-brown, while Mixed Hardwood/Mix Blonde packs combine several similar-toned species for a blended natural look.

Why does this range sometimes have limited stock?

Australian native species like Blackbutt and Spotted Gum have faced supply shortages nationally due to reduced harvesting and high demand, so availability can vary — this section is email order only so we can confirm current stock for you.

What does "S&B Grade KD" mean?

S&B stands for Standard and Better grade (a visual grading with some natural character retained) and KD means kiln-dried for dimensional stability.

Why is there a job lot fee on partial pack orders?

Breaking down a full pack into a smaller quantity takes extra handling, so an $88 (+GST) job lot fee applies to orders for less than a full pack in this range.
